The Folly Festival – Saturday 6th July

Daytime Events

As always the Saturday Daytime events are all about family fun and entertainment in the beautiful surroundings of Cullohill Castle and the Fairgreen area, known locally as ‘The Rocks’.

Everyone is welcome and you do not need a ticket for our evening concerts to attend. We have a jam packed day of family fun / entertainment with plenty to entertain all ages.

Guided Walk up Cullohill Mountain

The day’s events will kick off early with a guided walk up Cullohill Mountain at 9am. .  Taking in the amazing view from top of Cullohill Mountain, this is a great way to start the day!  Registration from 8.45am. €5 per person or free to those with a weekend ticket.

Family Fun @ Nancy’s Yard

The courtyard of Cullohill Castle will become the venue  fun for all ages from 11am – 4pm. Children’s activities will commence at 11am and run until 2:30pm. We have children’s entertainer Abracadabra, Jeca the Clown, face painting, children’s garden games, Nerf shooting target and much more. Entry into Nancy’s Yard is €5 per child and includes the cost of all activities. Adults are free of charge.

Musical Entertainment

The main stage in the Castle will be in action from 12pm on Sat 6th with the day’s music kicking off with the Garda Band. The newly formed Cullohill Comhaltas Group will also perform along with the children from our local school, Scoil Tighearnach Naofa.  The Dooley Brothers will take to the stage at 2pm and are sure to entertain, with Best Foot Forward rounding off the musical extravaganza.

Dog Show

A hugely successful and fun event every year, precious pooches will once again strut their stuff in the hope of winning a prize. €3 Entry per dog per category.

Art Exhibition

There will be an Art Exhibition of paintings from local artists.

‘The Great Folly Bake’

Always a very popular event, the  competition which will see the best home bakers bring their finest creations to compete against each other across various categories including  traditional plate tart, sponge cake and  decorated cupcakes. There is also a category for primary school kids – biscuit / cookie making.

Artisan Food & Craft Market

The market will take place on Saturday 6th July, from 11am – 4pm and will showcase the best of locally produced food and drink as well as crafts.

Daytime Events also includes a Vintage Car Display.
